At 7:00pm on Friday, June 20, 2008, the 48 Film Project began in Chicago. Each of the 30+ competitors drew a different film Genre, and all participants were given three additional elements that needed to be incorporated into the film. They were a Character (Repairperson Walter or Wilma Western), Dialogue ("Whats the password?") and Prop (urn or ashes).
The result was Very Clever's first Horror film, "Toast." Following the mysterious death of her husband, a woman begins to suspect that dark forces in her home are heating up. Toast was a finalist in the 48 Film Project's Chicago contest, and received the following award nominations:
Best of Chicago
Best Sound
Best Cinematography
Best Use of [Assigned] Prop
by Jeremy Blodgett, Dan Granta, Chris Rathjen, and Nick Wagner
